Chapter 16: Possessive Pronouns

16.3.2 declension of dein (2nd person singular)

substantival possessive pronouns
    German English
    feminine masculine neutral
  Nominative deine deiner deines yours
Genitive no se usto * no se usto * no se usto * of yours
Dative deiner deinem deinem to yours
  Accusative deine dein deines yours

  Nominative deine deine deine yours
Genitive not used not used not used of yours
Dative deinen deinen deinen to yours
  Accusative deine deine deine yours

* In common language the Genitive of the substantival possessive pronoun is not used. There is another form of a possessive that could be used (der deinige, die deinige, das deinige), but it sounds really antiquated. If you want to form a Genitive of deine it is mostly done like in English.

Das ist der Schlüssel von deinem (Auto etc.).
This is the key of yours. (car etc.).

The same could be done with a real Genitive and deinige (it's just not used commonly):

Das ist der Schlüssel des deinigen.
This is the key of yours.

Example: die Schachtel (= box) possessed object => feminine, singular
Ich sehe meine, aber deine nicht.
I see mine but not yours.

Example: das Kleid (= dress) possessed object => neutral, singular
Du kannst mit deinem hingehen.
You can go with yours.

Example: die Häuser (= house) possessed object => neutral, plural
Ich sehe meine, aber deine nicht.
I see mine but not yours.
